WELCOME FROM OUR HEADTEACHER
The government have announced their intention that in addition to the children of key workers and children classed as vulnerable, from 1st June at the earliest, if the government’s 5 key tests have been met, they would like schools to welcome back children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.
Based on current government guidance, from Tuesday 2nd June, St Gabriel’s has made plans to open for the children of key workers, vulnerable children, Year 1 and Year 6 children. We will not be opening to the wider group of Reception children just yet. School will start at 9.00am and finish at 3pm Monday to Thursday and will close at 1.45pm on Fridays.
Our risk assessments and planning are based on the number of parents who have said yes to their child returning. If you change your mind, please do call us and let us know. We need time to plan if you would like your child to return to school.
Home learning continues to be updated on the ‘School Closure’ tab. From 1st June, we will be following the National Oak Academy on line lessons for those who are still at home. In school, our teachers will be teaching the same learning objectives, so if your child is at home, you will know what learning is going on in school. We look forward to seeing you and look forward to a time when we can welcome back all of our children.
In the meantime, please stay safe and take care.
It is a pleasure to be Head of such an exceptional School. Christian and British Values are integral to our school and diversity is celebrated. Rooted in our Christian ethos, we provide a nurturing environment, ensuring our children grow academically, emotionally, morally and spiritually. At St Gabriel’s we aim to ensure that all children are provided with the foundations for their future enabling them to have choices, be their best and achieve whatever they set out to do.
St Gabriel’s pupils achieve well above the national average. Our high academic and behavioural expectations have enabled our children to make excellent progress; by the time they reach KS2, our pupils attain well above national expectations.
Housed in a beautiful Victorian building that over the last 10 years we have completely refurbished. We have an expansive Great Hall, a separate dining room, I.C.T. suite, library, meeting room, music room, a range of group rooms to provide spaces for children to work intensively with adults, working and preparation areas for staff and modern administrative office accommodation.
Unlike many other central London primary schools we are blessed with a fantastic indoor and outdoor space for our children to enjoy. Our school has a Key Stage 1 playground and a Key Stage 2 playground, a fountain, a quiet area, story-telling area and an adventure trail and a beautiful garden; our Reception children benefit from their own outdoor area.
