St Gabriel’s is a Church of England voluntary Aided school that serves a diverse and fascinating central London community. Our pupils come from a variety of social, ethnic and economic backgrounds. Most are local, and the school has a tradition that many parents also attended the school.

The school has a strong Christian foundation and close links with St Gabriel’s Church. We are pleased that families from a wide variety of faith traditions (and none) choose to send their children to St Gabriel’s and that staff members with varying religious affiliations want to work here. We expect all staff to make a positive contribution to the development of the ethos, and teaching staff should take part in school worship and the teaching of Religious Education.

Our aim is that children should receive a broad and balanced education that includes a strong focus on achievement. We strive to give the children in our care the gospel values to enliven the religious ethos of the school. We regard our Christian tradition as a powerful resource for supporting and challenging all members of the school community in fulfilling our educational and personal potential.

Prayer, Religious Education lessons, celebration of Feast Days, Assemblies, Mass are very important in the life of the school.

St Gabriel’s has a daily act of worship which is held as a whole school or in key stage groups.

Our assemblies are important times when children come together to enjoy stories and songs and to reflect on religious, spiritual, moral and social issues. In our Thursday Family Assembly we celebrate children’s successes through awards for Star of the Week, Music, Sport and Mentions. They all receive a big clap and are mentioned in our weekly newsletter.

We use the LDBS Religious Education Scheme of work.
